The Alaska state trooper who was the subject of harsh allegations by Gov. Sarah Palin was taken off patrols recently for his own safety, after her comments allegedly prompted a series of threatening phone calls, KIMO-TV in Anchorage reported Friday. [...]

Wooten is now working a desk job, KIMO reported. The troopers’ union has expressed concern because the new position means he can no longer earn overtime pay.

On August 30, 2008, I reviewed online court records for the McCann/Wooten family court cases and created a timeline to help make sense of the news reports related to the “Troopergate” scandal.  At this point, a narrative version seems appropriate to help make sense of that timeline, particularly in light of how the court cases provide a telling backdrop to the scandal.

A bitter custody dispute, starring the sister of Governor Sarah Palin, Molly McCann, and her three attorneys, versus the currently unrepresented Michael Wooten?  An erupting scandal involving allegations of political power being leveraged by Governor Palin for an advantage in that custody case?  The Alaska Department of Public Safety makes recordings of all of its incoming calls?  Could this be a bonafide scandal?

Apparently, it was a ‘little known fact’ that calls to the Alaska DPS are recorded.
